Festa Italiana Comes To Cuyahoga Falls
Friday March 27, 2009

Mayor Don L. Robart is pleased to welcome Festa Italiana, a brand new 3-day festival to the Falls River Square District this summer.

Festa Italiana of Cuyahoga Falls (FIOCF) will take place the weekend of July 24-26, 2009 in the downtown riverfront district. "I am thrilled to bring a new family event to our downtown," commented Mayor Robart. "I commend the hard work of this committee and we look forward to a fabulous new festival.”

Festa Italiana's goal is to maintain and share with the community their Italian heritage. The three days’ activities will be free to the community for their enjoyment of Italian culture and the romance of Italy.

Morra and bocce, two of Italy's small town pastimes, will come alive at Falls River Square. “Both are easy to play, but if you don’t know how, Mario will give you a short lesson so you can join the fun!”, stated Vito Testa, chairman of the festival. Carnival games for children of all ages will also be available.

The public is also invited to join in making wine the old-fashioned way by stomping grapes as their forefathers did in Italy. A variety of Italian foods will be prepared and served throughout the festival. Some of the best Italian sausage will be served and of course, their famous "gelato" Italian ice cream.

A different musical performance will occur each night during the festival. From local favorites to a Sicilian superstar, direct from Italy, the weekend will be full of entertainment and ambiance of true Italian culture.
